Good News from Israel; Due to the firestorm of coverage surrounding the massive governmental screw-up that enabled the Boston jihadi attack, there was almost no coverage Hagel’s first trip to Israel. Jewish and Israel News (JNS.org) reported Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel announced a massive new arms deal with Israel.
Hagel made a number of surprising announcements, saying the arms deal, “sends a clear signal to Iran… The bottom line is that Iran is a threat, a real threat. The Iranians must be prevented from developing that capacity to build a nuclear weapon and deliver it,” he added
The sale to Israel includes the sale of KC-135 aerial refueling planes, new missiles for fighter aircraft and V-22 Osprey transport planes and was clearly designed to maintain Israel’s military superiority in the region. Hagel went on to assure the Israeli’s that there was “no daylight at all” between the U.S. and Israel on Iran and that Israel would decide for itself whether to take a pre-emptive strike on Iran.
This was very good news given that Hagel was barely confirmed Secretary of Defense precisely because of his anti-Israel and pro- Iranian past statements. This week’s weapons sales and Hagel’s surprising pronouncements to the Israeli press seemed to signal that Obama Administration was reversing course and was taking large steps to repair the alliance. Hagel’s statements also seemed to reveal or at least give a hint to the world that the US would aid Israel in the military operations necessary to rid Iran of its nuclear weapons programs and would help to defend the 7.7 million Israeli’s from the threat of Muslim annihilation. Perhaps the latter might be reading too much into Hagel’s words. But one can certainly hope.

Chiheb Esseghaier, one of two men accused of plotting a terror attack on rail target
The Toronto Tehran Connection: Another important story dwarfed by the Dagestani jihadists was the arrest of two other Islamic would-be terrorists in Canada. They are accused of plotting to blow up a passenger train which makes regular runs between Toronto and New York City, One possibl scenario was their plan was to detonate their bomb while the train traveled over a bridge spanning the Niagara, thereby maximizing the loss of life. The men, one from Tunisia, the other from Qatar, are not Canadian citizens but were living in Canada on a semi-permanent basis.
The arrest had some very unusual components. The men had been under surveillance for over a year based on a tip from a Toronto Imam, Yusuf Badat. This seems to almost never happen. For example, no one from the Cambridge Mosque where Tamerlan Tsarneav attended called the police when his picture from the surveillance cameras was shown countless times on television for several days prior to his death.
Secondly, one of the men, Chiheb Esseghaier, attended the Institut National de la Recherche Scientifique and is Ph.D candidate. Hopefully this will finally bury the politically correct shibboleth that characterizes Muslim terrorists as ill-informed nut cases who simply don’t know the true nature of Islamic thought and jurisprudence. Mohammad Atta and bin Laden were also well educated and materially well-off.
And thirdly, some of the Canadian police let it be known that the men were operating ‘under the guidance and direction of al Qaeda elements in Iran. In my book, Lessons from Fallen Civilizations, I write,
“… on July 26, 2001, in a backwater US Embassy in Baku Azerbaijan, a high-level Iranian security official, Hamid Reza Zakeri, walked in. He told the receptionist that he wanted to speak to the CIA because he had information related to the security of the United States. He explained to the station chief, “Joan,” that in his capacity as a high-level security officer at Iran’s Ministry of Information and Security (MOIS) headquarters, he observed “Arabs” training pilots and briefing them on their appointed targets. He even described models that were on the table in the meeting room—the World Trade Center, the White House, the Pentagon, and Camp David. He told her that the attack was coming from the air, that Arab pilots had already left for America, and the date for the attack was 9/11/01.
Joan called for backup. Several days later a senior CIA officer, “George,” arrived from headquarters to debrief the “Baku walk in.” He immediately decided that Zakeri was peddling lies, paid him $200, and told him to get out. The information that could have saved 3,000 lives was never passed up the chain-of-command.”
Apparently these Canadian cops didn’t get the memo. We the common citizens of the west are not supposed to know that Iran has harbored, trained and armed al Qaeda. And as such, Iran is not only responsible for hundreds of our soldiers deaths inside Iraq and Afghanistan, but they were even complicit in the 9/11 attacks. The Bush Doctrine which was codified by the Pentagon on September 20, 2002 as National Security Strategy of the United States makes plain that we will consider those who harbor and otherwise support terrorists to be at war with us. Now that it is an established fact that Iran supports elements of al Qaeda, the American public should demand that this government act to rid the world of this dangerous regime in Tehran.
