Islam’s Genocide Problem

My friend, Nonie Darwish, is an author, speaker, and a courageous advocate in the cause to prevent Islam from realizing its stated goal—that being, the gradual subversion and ultimate conquest of the West. On her two websites, www.arabsforIsrael.com and www.formerMuslimsunited.com, she exposes the brutality of supremacist Islam in a way that only a women born into a prominent Muslim family can. She is an Islamic apostate who will not be intimidated into submission despite the threat of death reserved for those who choose to leave the religion.

Ten years after 9/11, most clear thinking westerners have begun to process the fact that Islamic jurisprudence proscribes death for apostasy, a fact that should delegitimize the religion until and unless it renounces this portion of its dogma (See the Pledge on www.formerMuslimsunited.com) And as Nonie and the contributors to her website make clear, almost no prominent Muslims even in the US will renounce death for apostasy.

While westerners have come to understand Islam’s pitiless proscription for apostasy, few of us know the reason why Islam is so virulently anti-Semitic. We fail to assess the reason why, when the President of Iran publicly states that Iran is committed to wiping Israel of the map, no other Islamic head of state publicly rebukes him. Few of us, including our recent past presidents, can understand why Islam cannot make peace with Israel and why if it did so, it would delegitimize the religion.

Ms. Darwish has published a piece on Robert Spencer’s www.Jihadwatch.com, Why Muslims Hate the Jews, which is a brilliant expose on why all the endless US sponsored peace negotiations with Palestinians and the Israelis are a fool’s errand. Of the Prophet, she writes,

“Mohammed’s genocide of the Jews of Arabia became an unholy dark mark of shame in Islamic history, and that shame, envy, and anger continues to get the best of Muslims today. In the eyes of Mohammed and Muslims, the mere existence of the Jewish people, let alone an entire Jewish state, de-legitimizes Islam and makes Mohammed look more like a mass murderer than a prophet. For Muslims to make peace with Jews and acknowledge that Jews are humans who deserve the same rights as everyone else would have a devastating effect on how Muslims view their religion, their history and the actions of their prophet.

To make her above observation more understandable, let me reference my book, Lessons from Fallen Civilizations, where I recount an event in Mohammad’s life, an event known to most Muslims. …

“In early 627, the Meccans and Quraysh elders realized that Muhammad was a force that had to be eliminated. They amassed a huge army, by Arabian standards, of over 10,000 men and began to ride toward Medina. Muhammad’s earliest biographer, Ibn Ishaq, records that some of the Jews who were expelled from Medina and others from settlements around Arabia joined the Meccan army. This adds another reason why Jews are held in contempt by Muslims today. Muhammad received word of the impending attack, ordered trenches dug around the city, and withstood a twenty-five day siege.

As soon as the Meccans withdrew, he attacked the last Jewish tribe allied with the city of Medina, the Banu Qurayza. It is recorded in the Koran that Allah sent a new revelation to the Prophet that instructed him to kill the Jews because they had broken their promise to not aid the armies from Mecca. Muhammad addressed them in terms that have become familiar usage for Muslim radicals speaking of Jews today—language that also made its way into the Koran, ‘You brothers of monkeys, has God disgraced you and brought His vengeance upon you.’

While the prophet was overseeing the decapitations, He caught a glimpse of Rihana, a beautiful Jewish woman, whose husband and father were massacred before her eyes just hours earlier. Muhammad asked her to become his wife. She refused. So he took her as his unwilling slave and concubine.”

Other sources record that, on that day, many unspeakable tortures preceded the executions of the men. Because the event is so well-documented in the Koran, as Robert Spencer observes:

“. . . it established a precedent that was enshrined in Islamic law, Sharia, which gives Muslim captors the right to kill or enslave their non-Muslim prisoners (with the full blessing of God) as they deem expedient.”…

“They struck off their heads in those trenches as they were brought out to him (the Prophet) in batches.” …

Two years later, after the Muslims had conquered Mecca, the prophet ordered his armies to consolidate its hold on the Arabian Peninsula by seeking out, capturing and killing all remaining Jews.

Ms. Darwish goes on to explain why Islam’s Jewish dilemma today presents a major existential problem. By no fault of their own, the Jews found themselves in the middle of this Islamic dilemma. Islam must justify the genocide that Mohammad waged against the Jews. Mohammad and Muslims had two choices: either the Jews are evil sub-humans, apes, pigs, and enemies of Allah, a common description of Jews still heard regularly in Middle Eastern mosques today, or Mohammad was a genocidal warlord and not fit to be a prophet of God, a choice that would mean the end of Islam.

Mohammed must have felt deep and extreme shame after what he had done to the Jews and thus a very good reason had to be found to explain away his genocide. Thus by commanding Muslims to continue the genocide for him, even after his death, Mohammad expanded the shame to cover all Muslims and Islam itself. All Muslims were commanded to follow Mohammed’s example and chase the Jews wherever they went. One hundred years after Mohammed’s death, Arabs occupied Jerusalem, and built Al Aqsa mosque right on top of the Jewish Temple ruins, the holiest spot of the Jews. Muslims thought they erased all memory of Jewish existence.

Ms Darwish goes on:

“Mohammed’s genocide of the Jews of Arabia became an unholy dark mark of shame in Islamic history, and that shame, envy, and anger continues to get the best of Muslims today. In the eyes of Mohammed and Muslims, the mere existence of the Jewish people, let alone an entire Jewish state, de-legitimizes Islam and makes Mohammed look more like a mass murderer than a prophet. For Muslims to make peace with Jews and acknowledge that Jews are humans who deserve the same rights as everyone else would have a devastating effect on how Muslims view their religion, their history and the actions of their prophet.”

And here Nonie Darwish makes a brilliant observation:

“That is why, the number one enemy of Islam is, and must remain, the truth. If the truth exposes Islam’s unjustified Jew hatred, Muslims will be left with an empty shell of a religion, a religion whose prophet was a murderer, a thief and a warlord; without Jew hatred Islam would self-destruct.”

About the Author:

Larry Kelley’s life was utterly changed by 9/11. On the day after the attacks, on his way to work, he was struck by the sudden realization that World War III had commenced. Like most Americans he desperately wanted to find out who were these people who attacked us, what could ordinary citizens do to join the battle and how can those plotting to kill us in future attacks be defeated. Mr. Kelley has written scores of columns on the dangers of western complacency.
