Memo to Trump: Can’t We Learn from the Roman Model?

While the world is focused on the upcoming meeting between President Trump and dictator, Kim Jung Un, attention on what Iran, North Korea’s closest ally, is doing is absent from the front-page news coverage. Count me among those who were appalled by the eight years of the Neville Chamberlain-like appeasement model peddled around the globe by the Obama administration. President Trump, we are greatly heartened by your total reversal of such a failed approach to foreign policy. But can we please have a more serious and consistent approach to the Middle East and especially now in Syria?

Cleaning Up Obama’s Wartime Messes – 5 Moves Trump Can Make to Succeed

In early April of this year, at a joint news conference with King Abdullah of Jordan, Trump said Syria is now his responsibility, added that Syria had crossed "more than a red line," and that he inherited a worldwide mess and intended to fix it. Predictably, this caused the “destroy-Trump” media, from CNN to the [...]

Trump’s Unchained Military

I write in Lessons from Fallen Civilizations, Vol. II, “In 2009, upon his release from Camp Bucca, Iraq, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the future sultan of ISIS, said to his American captors, ‘I’ll see you guys in New York City.’” In a week when most Americans were primarily focused on North Korea and the three-front war [...]

A Raid on ISIS by the U.S. and Kurds Portends Great Events

Last Thursday night, October 22, in a daring raid, U.S. Special forces teamed with Kurdish Peshmerga forces and attacked an ISIS controlled prison in Hawijah, just outside the now autonomous Kurdish region of Northern Iraq. They heroically liberated 70 prisoners scheduled for beheading on the following day after prayers. Sadly, a titan of the U.S. Special [...]

What has Changed One-Year After the US Defeat at Benghazi?

One year ago today our consulate in Benghazi, Libya was attacked and our Ambassador, Chris Stevens, was killed along with three other former members of the US Special Forces who defied orders to stand down and died trying to protect him and his staff. The mainstream media and much of our ruling class has attempted [...]
