After its first month, the bombing campaign conducted against Iran by the United States and Israel has produced some unprecedented “firsts” in the history of human conflict.
Secretary of War Pete Hegseth schooled the legacy press,” Twenty-seven days ago, Iran had a modern military. Never in recorded history has a nation’s military been so quickly and effectively neutralized…over 10,000 enemy targets destroyed…over 150 naval vessels sunk, underground facilities destroyed, their defense industrial base in shambles…the IRGC navy commander killed.”
Hegseth concluded, “So no navy, no navy leader.”
A regime-linked media outlet aired a forced confession of a detained citizen accused of sharing intelligence used for air strikes on Basij and IRGC checkpoints. It unmasked the regime’s paranoia over the precise targeting of its internal security network by its own citizenry. It was an admission that it fears its own people even more than the Americans and Israelis.
The next phase of the conflict will be waged to determine who controls the flow of oil through the Strait of Hormuz, where roughly 25% of the world’s crude transits to global oil markets. It remains to be seen if our Nato allies can mollify their Muslim populations sufficiently to aid in providing naval escorts for the billion-dollar oil tankers that must navigate the twenty-nine-mile-wide passage.
Those of us who lived through the dark days of the Cold War remember President Reagan’s June 12, 1987, speech before the Berlin Wall, where he said, “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.”
Two years later, by November of 1989, the Berlin Wall had fallen, symbolizing the liberation of Eastern Europe from the domination by their evil Russian overlords in Moscow. Unfortunately, while the free world celebrated the fall of the Soviet Union, it failed to notice that the dark shadow of Islamist tyranny had descended upon the 90 million souls in Iran.
Ten years earlier, the once prosperous Iranian people was enslaved by a maniacal, suicidal, cabal of Muslim fanatics. Their only mission was to suck the wealth out of the country to build a war machine dedicated to the death and destruction of the infidel West. Their brand of Islam was a martyrdom cult.
Readers of this column will be happy to know that, although the Islamist regime in January killed between 20 to 30 thousand of its own citizens, the Iranian freedom fighters are actively counterattacking. Now, instead of walking unarmed into the streets and rioting, they are conducting guerrilla warfare, fighting the regime like our forefathers fought the British in the 1770s.
On social media, a group calling itself Free Iran Now posts stirring footage of armed Iranians attacking IRGC (Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps) vehicles, firing automatic weapons at them. In other footage, it posts a crowd inspecting a demolished Mosque where IRGC and Basij soldiers were killed while they slept, killed by a strike called in by an undercover Mossad agent working in their midst.
What will make the fall of the Iranian theocracy as monumental as the fall of the Soviet Union? The answer lies in the formation of a new alliance. Iranian freedom fighters are fighting with Jewish Mossad agents and with Jewish pilots flying American jets bombing Iranian military and police headquarters.
The alliance between the Iranian freedom fighter and the West is biblical in its significance, yet it is conducting a very new kind of warfare. When the victory is achieved, the Middle East will be as fundamentally changed as was the West after the fall of the Berlin Wall.
