Death to the Iranian Theocracy

Death to the Iranian Theocracy

As readers of these columns are aware, we demonstrate that tyrants running regimes such as Xi’s CCP and Putin’s Russia are less likely and less able to wage war against the United States or our allies when they are preoccupied with quelling insurrections and are in a state of decline common to all autocracies.

Charlie Laderman at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies has authored a piece titled “Freedom for Iran: US Support for Polish Anti-Communists of the 1980s.” Laderman reminds us that, as the Soviet Union was losing its grip on its satellite countries in Eastern Europe, Ronald Reagan threw his complete support behind the freedom movements inside Poland.

He writes, “Reagan understood that the nature of the Soviet regime made it inherently dangerous. The same is true of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Chants of “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” are not for show. They express the regime’s ideological commitment to exporting revolutionary violence across the Middle East and beyond.

Reagan prevented Poland from joining the International Monetary Fund, deprived Moscow of foreign lending, suspended its export licenses for the sale of oil and gas equipment needed to build their Siberian gas pipeline, and denied the Soviet empire the necessary capital to impose martial law upon its captive nations.

When Polish shipyard workers formed a union called “Solidarity” and went on strike, the Soviet puppet governor of Poland declared martial law on Poland and jailed its leader, Lech Walesa. Four days later, Reagan made a televised speech to the world, stating that he stood with the Polish people and against the evil empire.

Iran analyst, Karim Sadjadpour, writes, “The Islamic Republic resembles a late-stage Soviet Union, economically and ideologically bankrupt and reliant on repression for its survival.”

Following Reagan’s lead, Trump imposed sanctions on Iran during his first term. Now, with the destruction of its air defenses by the Israelis and the destruction of its nuclear bomb factories by the Americans, Iran has suffered humiliating military defeats.

With these humiliations, combined with a succession crisis driven by its 86-year-old Supreme Leader, Trump has the opportunity to be the American President whose bold, Reagan-like actions can bring about the fall of the evil Iranian Theocracy. Should that come to pass, it would be a historic achievement of biblical significance.

About the Author:

Larry Kelley’s life was utterly changed by 9/11. On the day after the attacks, on his way to work, he was struck by the sudden realization that World War III had commenced. Like most Americans he desperately wanted to find out who were these people who attacked us, what could ordinary citizens do to join the battle and how can those plotting to kill us in future attacks be defeated. Mr. Kelley has written scores of columns on the dangers of western complacency.
