Are We to Lose Our Most Precious Freedoms Soon?

The Implementation of Obamacare

In my forthcoming book, Lessons from Fallen Civilizations, I note that no people untouched by the ancient Greeks ever came up with the notion that the many should rule the few. Based on our founding, we are the inheritors of that principle, because we as citizens of the US, are supposedly to have dominion over our government.

If Obamacare is fully implemented, it will, as Barak Obama proclaimed, fundamentally transform America. It will reverse the relationship between the governed and their government. We will become servile to it, dependent upon it for our very physical well-being. The elites of our society will have gold-plated health care. Most will not. It will also be the tipping point, making our government permanently unaffordable, putting America in permanent decline.

Will Defense Budget of Roughly $670 Billion Keep Us Free and Prosperous?

Most Americans assume that our huge annual defense budget of roughly $670 billion ensures that we will remain a free and prosperous nation. They are wrong. If the ruthless regime running Iran acquires nuclear weapons with long-range delivery systems, which seems likely this year, they will feel emboldened and will conduct frequent and more spectacular terrorist attacks upon America, its interests, and its allies. Iran has been the central banker for Islamic terrorism, funding virtually all terrorist organizations, Hamas, Hezbollah, and even Sunni al Qaeda dating back to the Clinton years. But they have attempted to do so with plausible deniability. Their attack on the Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia was one such operation.

Once the Iranians have nuclear weapons, the equation changes. They will certainly attack the US much more frequently and openly because they know we will not retaliate for fear of an ensuing nuclear war. They know this will greatly curtail our freedom to move about the globe. If they kill enough innocent tourists visiting areas absent of American police protection, most of us will cease to travel outside our country. This is a primary objective of resurgent militant Islam. For them, our presence in Muslim lands despoils Islam.

Even more damaging to our freedoms, our prosperity, and our way of life, Iran and its coerced allies will, with impunity, wreak havoc upon port security the world over. They will certainly attack our private shipping interests and key trading partners which will dramatically curtail our ability to conduct international trade vital to our $15 trillion economy. Investment in international business, jobs and prosperity so necessary to our sense of freedom will be greatly diminished as the Iranians will be able to point a nuclear gun to our heads. We are dealing with a regime that believes it has a messianic right to kill us if it can.
